Abraham Lincoln, our greatest president, had only the humble goal of proving himself worthy and respected to his contemporaries, “by rendering [himself] worthy of their esteem”. Lincoln as a man was motivated by his sense of morality to achieve great things politically so as to ensure the dignity of his fellow man and the unity of his nation. Through his achievements, he will be forever known in this country as a hero.

Ray Bradbury’s grandfather once taught him an important lesson on how one should live. There was no point in living unless the person left leaving something behind that he or she has changed or shaped forever. Then after you die and people look at that object, they will see you standing there as if you were still there. The difference between an architect and a construction worker is that the architect creates the design of a building while the construction worker actually builds it.

Reading the book over again can allow you to understand it in a more in-depth perspective than you did before. You will be able to perceive new details you didn’t previously notice. Best of all, you get to relive the whole book again. A paper published in the Journal of Consumer Research found rereading offers mental health benefits because it allows more emotional connection and self-reflection instead of the first reading, which is more based and focused on the events and plot of the book.

A good heart is the support for, and the most important part of, a person. Possessions can be lost then replaced, while the heart cannot be replaced. After the prince and the swallow died, there was no one else in the city that was as selfless as them. Once they were gone no one else in the city could replace their kindness. This idea is demonstrated in a short story by Eudora Welty, which also proves that genuine goodness is the base of life.

Then all my emotions kicked in. First I was upset that I was only swimming one event. Then I felt scared, because this was my first time swimming at a championship swim meet. Finally I started crying, and once the tears started, I couldn’t stop crying.
