The series Seekers and Warriors by Erin Hunter is truly one you should read. Erin Hunter is actually a pseudonym for the authors Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, Tui Sutherland, and their editor Victoria Holmes. The Warriors series started in 2003 and is what the authors have been well known for. The first book Into The Wild starts off with a ginger tomcat named Rusty who wanders into the woods one day further than he has ever gone. His owners call him back, but he decides to wander off into the wild all by himself instead. Rusty is then attacked by a wild cat and fights bravely. The group of cats that the wild cat Rusty fought is the Thunder Clan. Finally, the Thunder Clan’s leader Blue Star gives him an offer to join the Thunder Clan. When Rusty makes his decision the next day, his life is changed forever.

The series Seekers is a whole different story in its own way. Seekers is about four different bears. All of them are trying to find a place where there is no human interference. There is Kalik a polar bear, Toklo a grizzly, and Lusa a black bear. However, you will have to read the books to find out what type the last bear is and what special powers he has. Seekers brings you from the beginning of those three cubs’ lives were changed, all the way until the end of their journey. Step into the realistic world of Seekers and Warriors and be amazed by the believable environment Erin Hunter has created.

Seekers is a fantastic work of realistic fiction. Erin Hunter exhibits realistic bear behaviors, while still creating an interesting and emotional plot. Hunter splits the book up into three perspectives of the three bears, giving you a variety of information at the same time, then leaving you with a cliff-hanger and moving onto another character. My favorite part is the description, from the sky at sunset, all the way to small flower buds on the ground. In addition, the bears seem so real and alive, as all of them conquer their own problems they face.

In Warriors, you are given the perspective of Rusty the cat most of the time. Occasionally, it switches views and gives you a whole new scenario. I love reading Warriors because of the great plot that can turn either way. There is a great amount of foreshadowing that can make you want to turn the next page after the other. Also, there is a variety of content, and action is just around the corner, and when it’s not, there is a great plot to follow along with. I loved to read both series, but if you are looking for something to start off with, Warriors should be your pick because there are plenty of more books out now, due to the fact that Seekers was released 5 years after Warriors.
